Elaine Sephton — The Real English Elaine
Long Bio
Elaine Sephton, known to many as The Real English Elaine, is an international speaker, author, and brain health advocate whose message is built on authenticity, resilience, and hope. Originally from Liverpool, England, Elaine has called the United States home since 1998.
Her career spans more than three decades in leadership, communications, consulting, learning and development, and organizational transformation — including work with one of the Big Four consulting firms and leadership responsibilities across the United States and Latin America. Having spent years helping organizations and individuals navigate pressure, change, culture, and human behavior, Elaine understands both the professional demands people face and the personal struggles many quietly carry behind success.
What makes Elaine's voice especially powerful is that her work is not built solely on professional expertise — it is deeply personal. After being diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder in 2014 and surviving multiple suicide attempts, Elaine began searching for answers that ultimately transformed both her life and her purpose.
In 2022, a SPECT brain scan at Amen Clinics revealed an overactive cingulate gyrus — the brain's "gear shifter" — stuck in overdrive and presenting like PTSD. The image finally explained years of emotional struggle and reshaped how she understood her own brain.
In June 2026, a follow-up SPECT told a different story: no stuck gear shifter, no PTSD pattern. Elaine heard the words she had waited years for — "You are in remission from depression." She is living proof that changing your brain can change your life.
Today, she is a graduate of Amen University and a Certified and Licensed Brain Health Trainer and Coach who openly shares her journey to help others realize there is hope beyond depression, stigma, and silence.
Elaine is passionate about changing the conversation from mental health to brain health, and believes emotional wellness should be discussed with the same compassion as any physical health condition. Through speaking engagements, podcasts, conferences, churches, nonprofit organizations, and community outreach, she combines scientific insight, lived experience, practical tools, faith, and honest storytelling in a way that connects deeply with audiences. Her mission is simple but powerful: to help people remove the mask, understand their brain, and realize they are not alone.
